My newest digitally painted style. June 2010

This is a logo design I created recently, all in vector based artwork from my original sketch. I would love more work like this if you need it. Vector art can be expanded and reduced without losing resolution or clarity, so it's a great choice from promotional work.

I don't have a lot of children's book style work, but I did this recently for a Christmas book at work. All of these were vector illustrations created from my original drawings.

I Want to Pick Just ONE Piece to Explain...
I have just kind of given this guy the title of Isaiah, since the image came from the book of Isaiah in the Bible. This was the first time I have ever had an image appear wholly in my mind while blinking my eyes. In Isaiah 5:18-20, the writer talks about those who drag their sin along, as on cart ropes. Just think of all the senseless things we hold on to that either hurt ourselves or others needlessly. In Isaiah's case, it's the broken vessel that can be useful to no one, but symbolizes his uselessness in his broken condition. The shovel, whose only use will be when he digs his own grave. The comb that his pride holds on to, although it's days of need are apparently far behind. The fire hose would save countless lives in someone else's hands, but has been stolen just to satisfy a hoarder's sense of selfishness. And the Jack-in-the-Box is that bit of comfort we get from holding on to yesterday because tomorrow is so uncertain.
